My love of the staffing and recruiting world has been ingrained in me for more than two-thirds of my life!
When I was 17, my father was a self-employed recruiter for the securities industry. He encouraged me to make cold calls for him, and if a candidate was placed as a result of my cold calling, I would make a commission.
When I became a mother at the age of 19, my focus turned to charting the next phase of life for my baby and me. As a single mother determined to forge my own path, I said yes to an opportunity that changed the course of my life.
In 1988, I connected with the founder of a young staffing service that was in need of a front desk receptionist. The position was newly created and they wanted to see how it would work on a temporary basis before making the role a permanent one.
Even though I was looking for a permanent position, I accepted the temporary assignment.
The position did turn into a full-time job, and 5 ½ years later, I left to start my own company.
I am a firm believer, and proof, that you do not know what can come from offering people opportunity! That philosophy is deeply rooted in my being, and why I am so passionate about the staffing industry. The temporary employment opportunity I said yes to ultimately led to Cadre helping tens of thousands of others find jobs in Wisconsin throughout the past 25 years.
As an industry, we recognize National Staffing Employee Week from 9/16-9/20. According to the American Staffing Association, “the staffing, recruiting, and workforce solutions industry makes a vital contribution to the U.S. economy, and provides outstanding job and career opportunities for nearly 17 million employees per year.”
Candidates come to, and work for, staffing services for numerous reasons. As with my story, each reason is deeply personal. Team Cadre respects each and every reason, and we do everything we can to help our employees achieve their career goals.
Thank you to all Cadre employees – present and past – for your hard work and dedication. We wish you continued success and may all of your dreams come true!
