WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
As a Medical Coder, you will assign CPT and ICD-10 codes based on Physician E/M and surgical documentation.
- Post Physician and surgery charges to the proper patient accounts while following appropriate billing guidelines
- Process and file both electronic and paper claims to various health insurance companies to meet policy guidelines
- Resolve electronic claims denials
- Process insurance denials
- Follow-up on patient accounts using pended insurance reports and re-filing to insurance companies
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding any coding errors and disputes
- Keep up to date on coding guidelines to maintain the reimbursement for services rendered
- Re-bill insurance companies or other third parties to secure payment for patients
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members about patient procedures or billing issues
- Any other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED:
- E/M, medical coding completion of coding classes (required)
- ICD-10 / CPT completion of coding classes (required)
- Medical coding certification CPC is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, basic anatomy and physiology, insurance terminology and health care confidentiality guidelines
- Someone with education after high school is highly preferred
- Computer savvy
- MSWD and Excel is preferred
- Must be comfortable communicating with Physicians with questions, regarding tests, diagnosis, treatments and concerning coding procedures
- Friendly and outgoing
- Quick learner
- Must have great attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
- Must adhere to OSHA, HIPAA and Medicare guidelines
- Ability to work well independently along with working in a team setting
- Strong communication skills
- Strong work ethic

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Length: Temporary to Hire
Pay for the Medical Coder position: $19.00 / hr.
